Went to the Food fair at the Singapore Expo just now and considering it is a Monday after all, the crowd was surprisingly healthy. Even when the looming financial clouds are grey and threatening and the day is more renowned for it's 'blues', Singaporeans still do what they do best after all. Looking for food. Classic.
But yes, the Expo has evolved quite a bit since it first started out. When it first started out, I remember visiting it once and it was quite literally, a white elephant. Jumbo-sized but as hollow as hollow-man, I even pitied it. Laughed at the ignorance of our garment for thinking up a mega-convention hall. I officially eat my words. My god is it bustling these days. Over the weekends, the croc sales, mph sales were held and the queue was yaberdaberdoooo!
My mum just returned from her coy's dnd in Genting. It turns out this year wasn't her year again. It's always the same btw. Every year she says she will get something good in the lucky draw and every year she comes home with either a rice-cooker, vouchers or like this year, more vouchers. HAHA But that isn't the point, the point is, she was in Genting. Where slot machines are aplenty. It's South-east Asia's Las Vegas, Macau even! I can hear the music and coins chinking in my ears. I must be money-mad, casino-crazy. That being said, the dilly dallying the casinos in Singapore are showing the rest of the world doesn't forbode well. The credit crunch and global recession has affected everybody for sure but i hope these casinos (ok, IR but stil...) realise that the fact is, there will forever be greedy singaporeans around and no matter how bad the economy is, there will be people frequenting them. In fact, there will probably be more people than usual considering how many people will be in dire straits and choosing to put their life(literally) on the line. That's my point of view and it's cryptic but it's a sad world out there. Of course it's still best if one doesn't fall prey to the allure of the tinkering of the coins.
I need to keep myself occupied. Any ideas how??
