Yet, again my stop-start post-ord life was disrupted for another couple of days, albeit this time it being a holiday!
To me, any time spent with family is quality time spent so the 4 days in Malaysia was very much welcome. Although the destination this time was far from exciting, cue TRULY ASIA, I thoroughly enjoyed my life over there.
We spent 3 days in KL. Mostly shopping around Berjaya Times Square. I have really caught the shopping influenza because all the time we were window shopping, i was calculating how much that nice shirt there will set me back, whether I can afford the 3 for $XXX offer without busting a hole in my bank. (Does not help when I am so selective about a job. HAHA)
Ok anw, as usual, my father and brother complained of leg soreness after mere hours and they had to retire early. I, meanwhile, was too caught up with the idea of new clothes to even comtemplate retiring to the hotel room just yet. As a result, I tagged along with mum and sis the remainder of the time. Haiya, and I finally understood what females see in shopping. Basically, majority of the bargains are for them. Female apparel and accessories are as commonplace as sand on a beach. Really really everywhere. Blinky flashy shoes are going for like 20RM, bright funky tops are going for 15RM. Everything's a bargain. Of course I had my fair share of shopping too lah duh. Who is to deter Mighty Ol' Me when i set myself out to do something!
Okay, after 3 stress-busting days in the sprawling complex as well as the outskirts of the 'Malay Orchard Road'. I was ready to 'cash in' on my good luck. Or so i thought...
Anyway, we boarded a coach on the 3rd day and made our way to Genting Highlands. Which is like.. the place i visit the most in Malaysia. Damm scary. Not Johor, not KL but Genting. This time though.. I decided that this would be breakthrough year. The year i finally snuck into the famed casinos. The Las Vegas of Southeast Asia. (It's not an exaggeration, compare the casino with the fruit machine rooms in Singapore. The fruit machine rooms are exactly that, Fruits compared to the Yu-tou-lu-like casino in Genting. Can't mention bird's nest because that's reserved for Las Vegas. As for Abalone, well, that's for Singapore's IR. That's how much faith I have in the upcoming megaproject)
For the sake of those who haven't been into a casino, i shall describe one to you right now. Hokay, once you make your way to the entrance. They have metal detectors that you have to pass through after which you have to pass the stern-like-hell guards. Apparently I look too youthful (oh well, can't be helped) and i got repelled a couple of times. But like an incessant mosquito, I kept buzzing and flitting about the two entrances until i finally got in. What greeted me first was the overwhelming stench of smoke. Then the sight of many money-crazed ah peks and ah ums gathering around huge tables. They have many games over there. Da-xiao, Roulette, Blackjack and so and so. But I am still only a junior. Small fry. So I took to the one-armed bandits straight away. Obviously, fortune favours the brave and I got off to a fantastic start. Winning featured games after featured games. But it's becoming an increasingly familiar story. Good start= Good vibe about particular machine = Good Game, You're officially done for = -_-
But i can see why alot of people like to frequent Genting. Because they just have to have a simply mentality. "I AM IN EUROPE" So instead of fretting over how much they are losing, they start thinking of how much fun they are having paying off the air tickets to Sweden or Germany. But then again, that sets a cap of $1000+ so it's best to have the "I AM IN TAIWAN" mentality. Minus the XL Crispy Chicken, Orh Lua Mee Sua and Taiwan Mei Meis. OH WELL. Yup, basically i think my parents really enjoyed losing money to those sickening machines but hey, i enjoyed the feeling too so i cannot complain. What's more, it's their turn to enjoy life now. So, although i am not addicted just yet, i can really see myself ferrying my parents up there every now and then in the future to let them enjoy their 'Tour De France'.
Okay, my pudgey, extremely pinchable mei mei is demanding I hand over the com immediately before she starts digging into my earlope again (extremely torturous). Till next time, Tata!
