Ok, today was alumni prac. Erm.. The numbers were encouraging to say the least. Because we really spent quite alot of time calling people up. It's phone bill well spent. HAHA Hopefully next week will be even better. Anyway, it felt really liberating to be playing in a band again. That collective music-making is something special. I didn't show it la, but i felt really happy, even gratified today.
With so many more people, with so many smiles, with a BAND.
I think it's true that an alumni band should be something people should actually look forward to. Whether their aim is to catch up with long lost friends, relive those days or just to jam and make music. Suddenly, a resident alumni band, though still such an attractive prospect, doesn't seem like a neccessity anymore. What's important is, i guess, how an individual makes use of the rare get-togethers when they do happen. Maybe this way, we treasure such times more dearly.
Okay anyway, had lunch with a couple of alumnis after prac and we went to Simpang Bedok to eat some famous fishball noodles. Damm nostalgic talking about our lives in AHS. People like Mary Chan, Mr Couch Potato, Park Tai Ha, the stupid chinese cultural teacher... Had a whale of a time really.
Ok, went to a Xmas partehh at night and it was quite sad because almost everybody left by the time I got there. HAHA gobbled a few slices of turkey. It's weird how turkey has so many weird sauces. There was the cranberry one, the mashed potato one and the satay sauce looking one. Quite confusing. Cause firstly, i mistook the cranberry one for jam and i was looking out for jiam tao lou ti (french loaf luh) to spread and eat. Then i saw the mashed potato gravy and i started scanning my surroundings for any mashed potato lookalike, TO NO AVAIL. Finally no satay even. I think my uncle must have noticed my 'omg, i came too late for dinner' face, so he clarified that all the sauces are for the turkey. OKAAAY, VERY INTERESTING. (Diarrheoa now btw) And i have a run with hw and hb tmr.
Ok anw, mum, dad, my aunt and I played mahjong after that and I think that particular game summed up my 'money-investing' fortunes for this year. Horrigible. From the CNY gatherings early this year, to the ocassional trip to SAFRAs around Singapore, to slot machines down under, to Genting Casinos to even more random mahjong games like this. Even -1% interest rate banks offer me a higher return la, however you define higher.
Oh yes, I'm intrigued by the variety of English names one can possess and since I already got one (like, finally. Ang mos don't need to call me ZOON LOONG or even worse, CHOON LONG (silly dinosaur) ), i decided to think of one for my sister. And I came to a damm cute one. I hereby knight her Chup. Chup Tay. Wa i am damm proud of myself. OK very random.
Thank God I'm not gay. Whoopie!
