Ok, so it's the lesser of the two metals.
Definitely, it's a painful lesson. But I think it will prove to be the most valuable one yet. You will all learn lessons that can prove to be so much more useful in life. You guys have demonstrated phenomenal character and determination to fight for what you want. While the end product isn't quite as expected, please take heart.
Take heart in the fact you guys DID improve so so so much. Not only in your playing, but the unity factor too. I think it says alot when people queue up to give encouragement to each other. It says alot too, when your usual-smiley bm can mutter only one word between sobs of sincere gratefulness.
Take heart in the fact that you guys have created a wonderful and memorable stretch of time to look back to in the future. The endless sectionals, lectures, scoldings, jokes, bitch-a-bouts, mini games, toilet breaks, house visits, lunches, dinners, suppers, concerts, band practices. They will all come together like pieces of jigsaw puzzles to form a gigantic mosiac of your band life.
Take heart in the fact that you guys have given alot of positive memories to your teachers-in-charge, and your alumnis. The alumnis are extremely grateful to all of you aristocrats in ahband for putting in so much effort for the better good of the band. Thank you for letting us relive our band lives (somewhat). We sincerely appreciate the effort of each and every single one of you. You've rightfully carved a slice of history for yourself.
You will not be remembered as the band who failed to get a gold.
You will be remembered as the batch who improved so tremendously that even a gold with honours wouldn't have been able to justify the sweat and blood you guys shed.
Treasure your bandmates because they are likely to be one of those few people who you can safely say, know the most about you. I think band people make extra special friends because the magnitude of problems and hardships we have to face in band, others may not ever understand or empathise with. As siblings, whether wielding different tools of music-making, we share this common fate and we channel this hard work into the music we play, that's unique to us. And only us.
This is the Ahband way of life.
Be proud of yourselves, Ahband.
p.s. Thank you Hongwei for always reminding me about Ahband. You deserve much more recognition than you get from me or anybody else.
